Cuadro Workshops
Opal Studios (formerly NCDC), 920 Reserve Rd., Roseville, CA: April 6. May 4, 7:00 to 9:00 PM
These sessions are designed for advanced dancers who want to refine and level up their existing material and prepare them to work with other artists in a cuadro without prior rehearsal. Emphasis will be on integrating choreography with live toque and cante and ensuring that choreographies are well structured from all angles (baile /toqué/cante) so that the performer will be comfortable in new situations. Additional emphasis will be placed on the performance aspect, including tailoring work for intimate tabalo vs theater, and developing style.
These sessions are also open to dancers, singers and musicians who want to practice accompanying baile and cuadro support skills. Full series (three two-hour sessions) $45 drop-in rate. Advanced sign up required. Contact Dani at azahar.flamenco@gmail.com to register. Cante: Jimmie Ramos; Guitarra: Miguel Padilla
